Muhammara is a rich, smoky Middle Eastern dip made with roasted red peppers, walnuts, breadcrumbs, and pomegranate molasses, blended into a smooth, flavorful paste.
Muhammara (Red Pepper and Walnut Dip)
Ingredients:
• 3 red peppers
• 1 clove garlic
• 50 g breadcrumbs
• 60 g walnuts
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 2 tbsp pomegranate molasses
• ½ tsp cumin
• 1 tbp salt
• ½ tsp black pepper
• 1 tsp chili flakes
• 1 tsp lemon juice
• 1 tbsp chopped walnuts (for decoration)
• Fresh mint leaves (for decoration)
Instructions:
Grill the peppers and garlic until charred.
Remove from the grill, let them cool slightly, and peel the peppers.
In a food processor, add the peeled peppers, garlic, breadcrumbs, walnuts, olive oil, pomegranate molasses, cumin, black pepper, chili flakes, and lemon juice.
Blend everything into a thick, smooth paste.
Spread the muhammara onto a serving plate.
Drizzle with a little extra pomegranate molasses, sprinkle with chopped walnuts, and garnish with fresh mint.
Serving suggestion:
Serve as an appetizer with warm pita bread.
